Marine Engineering

This graduate study programme in Marine Engineering represents a logical and substantive advancement and continuation of the Marine Engineering undergraduate programme, which fully complies with the provisions of STCW A-III/2 and the National Ordinance on Titles and Certificates of Competence of Seafarers. These regulations prescribe the minimum requirements for obtaining the title of First Officer and Master on a ship of 3,000 GT or more.

The graduate study programme in Marine engineering addresses the ongoing need of shipowners for personnel capable of providing technical inspection and supervision of modern ships and vessels, which are complex technical and technological systems. Graduates are expected to have detailed knowledge of maritime operations from the shipowner's perspective, as well as an understanding of other systems within the maritime sector, including technical management. The programme is relevant to all branches of the economy and various scientific fields, and it supports the effective functioning of entrepreneurial, social, and governmental structures. Students who complete this programme gain competencies enabling employment in institutions involved in maritime affairs, as well as in maritime, transport, and economic companies responsible for managing and implementing the transport process, particularly in maritime transport management. Upon completion of the programme, graduates are awarded the academic title of University Master of Marine Engineering (univ. mag. ing. nav. mech.).

Students who complete graduate studies in Marine Engineering may continue their education at the same institution by enrolling in the postgraduate university programme "Technologies in Maritime Affairs" at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, where they may obtain a PhD in technical sciences.
